Alice Shirley

Alice was born in 1552 in Staunton Harrold, Breedon, Leicestershire, England. Alice's father was Francis Shirley and her mother was Dorothy Giffard. Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Shirley and Jane Sheffield; her maternal grandmother was Dorothy Montgomery. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Edward, Arthur, Ralph, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Mary and Anne. She was the second youngest of the nine children.
