Richard Shipley 
Richard was born about 1844 in , Washington County, Arkansas, USA.1 Richard's father was Benjamin Franklin SHIPLEY and his mother was Sarah "Sally" BURKETT. His paternal grandparents were Richard SHIPLEY and Henrietta HUGHES. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Nathan Pascal, Benjamin Franklin, William Park, James, Elijah, Thomas, Ibbey Jane, Susan Arabelle, Naomi Jane and Hanna Rette. He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. He died on February 22nd, 1863 in , Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.2 General Notes
Richard "Dick" Shipley was born about 1844 in Washington County, Arkansas, USA. It appears he was forced to join the Southern army and then deserted. According to family folklore, he was hanged by bushwhackers with his older brother, Nathan.(1) Susan (Shipley) Crabtree states in her deposition: "My brother Dick was a strong Union boy and the rebs captured him and hung him. They had him in the Southern army and he deserted them and was trying to get through to the Union forces and they came in on him."(2) He died about 1862 in Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.
