Elijah was born on January 1st, 1848 in , Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.1 Elijah's father was Benjamin Franklin SHIPLEY and his mother was Sarah "Sally" BURKETT. His paternal grandparents were Richard SHIPLEY and Henrietta HUGHES. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Nathan Pascal, Benjamin Franklin, William Park, Richard, James, Thomas, Ibbey Jane, Susan Arabelle, Naomi Jane and Hanna Rette. He was the second youngest of the eleven children. He died before 1900.General Notes
