Pliny Cleland was born in 1885 in LaRue County, KY. Pliny Cleland's father was Joseph Eddy (Edward) SMITH and his mother was Nancy "Nannie" Elizabeth SCOTT. His maternal grandparents were Dr. John L SCOTT and Josephine RODMAN. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Lindsey Afton, Carl Scott, Marshall Daniel, Josie Eddy, Maggie May (Margaret), Seatta Rodman and Fannie Young. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 22 in 1907 in disappeared in Portland, OR.General Notes
