John Purvis 
John was born on October 8th, 1808 in Taylor County, Kentucky.1 John's father was James Purvis and his mother was Rhoda Roberts. His paternal grandparents were Jesse Purvis and Mary Ballenger; his maternal grandparents were John Roberts and Sarah. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Calvin, James, William , Alfred, Jesse, Catherine, Lydia, Betsy, Nancy, Rhoda and America. He was the third youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 64 on March 30th, 1873 in Green County, Kentucky.-
