Calvin Purvis 
Calvin was born in 1788 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Calvin's father was James Purvis and his mother was Rhoda Roberts. His paternal grandparents were Jesse Purvis and Mary Ballenger; his maternal grandparents were John Roberts and Sarah. He had five brothers and six sisters, named James, William , Alfred, Jesse, John, Catherine, Lydia, Betsy, Nancy, Rhoda and America. He was the oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 88 in 1876 in Tipton County, Indiana.-
