Margaret was born in 1488 in Adeston, Devonshire, England. Margaret's father was Fulk Prideaux and her mother was Katherine Poyntz. Her maternal grandparents were Humphrey Poyntz and Elizabeth Pollard. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Nicholas, Humphrey, Rev. Robert, Richard, Alice, Elizabeth and Joan. She was the oldest of the eight children.-
