Mertie I McDaniel

Mertie I was born about 1904 in North Carolina.¹ Mertie I's father was Robert Lee McDaniel and her mother was Angeline Foster. Her maternal grandparents were James Foster and Mary Baxley. She had eight brothers and six sisters, named Zachary L., Henry Joe, Thomas Edward, Charles Baxter, Alexander Franklin, Alex S, Isaac Ray, Robert Lee, Fallie Bell, Lola Odell, Lillie Mae, Bertha Lee, Zona Mertia and Rosa Bell. She was the sixth youngest of the fifteen children. She died on August 7th, 1999 in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina.
