Elizabeth S. was born on October 10th, 1848 in Buncombe Co., N.C.. Elizabeth S.'s father was John Holmes GENTRY and her mother was Sarah R. BALL. Her maternal grandparents were Sampson Harrison BALL and Rosanna NORMAN. She had four brothers and six sisters, named William Sampson C., Thomas Jefferson, George Washington T., Elijah Young, Rosanne E., Lucinda, Harriet Jane, Laura Emmaline, Sophronia Josephine and Sarah Catherine. She was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.-
