John De Berkeley

John was born in 1539 in Bruton, Somerset, England. John's father was Sir Maurice de Berkeley and his mother was Catherine Blount. His paternal grandparents were Richard de Berkeley and Elizabeth Coningsby. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Sir Henry, Edward, Maurice, Robert, Francis, Gertrude, Elizabeth, Margaret, Frances and Anne. He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.
