His paternal grandparents were Frank (Frank) III and Frances Eman Norman. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named George Strother, John Dabney, William Winston, Charles Dabney, Francis Strother, Mary Wade, Mary Elizabeth, Lucy, Fannie, Elizabeth, Nancy, Millie and Sally. He was the second youngest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 80 on March 21st, 1880 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL..General Notes
