His paternal grandfather was Alexander Stewart De Bonkyl and his paternal grandmother is Jean MacRory; his maternal grandfather was Alexander Stewart De Bonkyl and his maternal grandmother is Jean MacRory. He had six brothers and a sister, named James, Alexander, Alan, Hugh, Walter, Robert and Isobel. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died in December 1331.General Notes
