Catherine was born about 1459 in Scotland. Catherine's father was William Sinclair and her mother is Elizabeth Douglas. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Sinclair and Egidia Douglas; her maternal grandparents were Archibald Douglas and Margaret Stewart. She had a brother named William.
