Jane was born in 1536.  Jane's father was Anthony Irby and her mother was Alice Bountayne.  Her paternal grandparents are Robert Irby and Joan Thimblely; her maternal grandfather is John Bountayne. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, Leonard, Edmund, Kenelm, Giles, Edward, Margaret, Catherine, Rose and Dorothy.  She is the third youngest of the twelve children.
