Agnes was born about 1465 in Nenthorn, East Lothian, Scotland. Agnes' father was William Borthwick and her mother was Mariota De Hopepringle. Her paternal grandfather was William Borthwick; her maternal grandparents are Thomas Hopringill and Margaret Turnbull.
