Mary was born in 1174 in Champagne, France.  Mary's father was Count Henry ("the Liberal") de Champagne I and her mother was Princess Mary Capet of France.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Theobold IV (II) of Blois and Princess Maud von Sponheim of Carinthia; her maternal grandparents were King Louis ("the Younger") Capet VII of France and Princess Eleanor of Aquitaine. She had a brother named The Troubador Prince.  She was the older of the two children.  She died at the age of 30 on August 9th, 1204.


Mary's family with Emperor Baldwin (VI) or IX of Flanders

‌Mary and Baldwin were married in a religious ceremony on June 6th, 1186.  They had a daughter named Margaret.
