Matilda was born about 1031 in Flanders, France.  Matilda's father was Baldwin ("the Pious") de Flanders V and her mother was Princess Adelaide Capet.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Baldwin ("Fairbeard", "le Barbu") de Flanders IV and Otgive de Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were King Robert ("the Pious") Capet II and Constance de Toulouse. She had two brothers named "the Peaceable" and "de Fries".  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen, Normandie, France.  She was buried in Eglise De La Sainte Trinitâe, Caen, Normandie.

‌Matilda and "the Conqueror" were married in a religious ceremony in 1053 in Castle Of, Angi, Normandy, France.  They had a son and three daughters, named "Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar", Gundred, Magdalene and Adela.
