Ransom was born about 1777 in SC Or TN, USA. Ransom's father was Benjamin Rucker and his mother was Betsy. His paternal grandparents were John Rucker and Susannah. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, Bennett, Gideon, Lucy, Millie Mildred and Sophia. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died after 1850.-
