General Notes

(Reflections of Grover Ford by William C. Ford, Sr. Grover's Grandson) Grover Ford was a farmer in the Goldmine Community of Hart Co. and raised a family of seven children.  He was a very high tempered man and was prone to episodes of "ranting and cussing ".  He had little patience for sorriness and could not tolerate a lazy mule..  He had a strong affinity for the cards and would play Rook with several men from the community till daylight.  He also loved to hunt and to shoot Pool.   He also fished a good deal and always had a gun and rod and reel with his pool cue in his car for instant action.  His greatest peculiarity was that if anything happened he always passed the blame to someone else.  On one occasion he left the house to drive to Royston and drove off into a ditch .  He walked home and  said "Lois look what you made me do"   . She answered" what could I've made you do Grover I have been here at the house."      He replied "If you had not fussed at me before I left the House I would not have run into the ditch".  She always accepted the blame and would continue with her cooking and humming.            On many occasions I would see him in Royston and would always say hello grandpa. I don't believe that he ever recognized me any time we were not at his home.  His favorite grandchild was always Eddie and I guess rightly so . Eddie was born with a cleft lip and pallet and was seriously ill a lot as a child.
