Jane was born in 1836 in Green Co.,Kentucky. Jane's father was Calloway Underwood and her mother was Mary Ann Oaks. Her paternal grandparents were Hiram Underwood and Celia Buley. She had five brothers and six sisters, named John R., Hiram Calloway ,Rev., Green Berry, Calloway T., Robert T., Celia, Mary Ann, Nancy, Nancy E., Caroline and Harriet Susan. She is the second oldest of the twelve children.-
