Robert Newton was born in 1858 in Clarke County,MS. Robert Newton's father was Hugh Satcher and his mother was Susan Merrill. His maternal grandparents were Abel Merrill and Eliza Cooley. He had three brothers named William Watson, James Allen and Hugh Merrill. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Simeon Ezekial, Green Berry, Madison Granberry, Eliza Jane, Martha, Annabelle, Susan and Ida. He died at the age of 77 on September 9th, 1935 in Jasper County,MS. He was buried in McFraland Cemetery,Jasper County,MS.General Notes
