Hugh Merrill was born on January 5th, 1862 in Clarke County,MS. Hugh Merrill's father was Hugh Satcher and his mother was Susan Merrill. His maternal grandparents were Abel Merrill and Eliza Cooley. He had three brothers named William Watson, Robert Newton and James Allen. He was the youngest of the four children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Simeon Ezekial, Green Berry, Madison Granberry, Eliza Jane, Martha, Annabelle, Susan and Ida. He died at the age of 82 on September 28th, 1944 in Heidelberg,Jasper County,MS. He was buried in Heidelberg Cemetery,Heidelberg,Jasper County,MS.General Notes
