William Monroe was born in ,Kemper County,MS.  William Monroe's father was James R. Luke and his mother was Martha Reed?reid.  His paternal grandparents are Mr. Luke and Miss UNKNOWN; his maternal grandparents were James Reed?reid and Mary or Sarah ?????. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named James Madison, Augustus L., John Buchanan, Allen Verdell, Daniel "Dock", Jackson Thomas, Christopher Columbus, Mary Ann, Sarah and Martha.  He died on May 14th, 1930.  He was buried in Luke Cemetery,Kemper County,MS.
