Maria Jane was born in November 1864 in Austin Co.,Texas (Eight Miles Point). Maria Jane's father was William E. Johnston and her mother was Elizabeth Miles Allen. Her paternal grandparents were John L. Johnson and Eliza McGee; her maternal grandparents were Miles Norton Allen and Mary Penelope Dodson. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James Woodall, Leander, William Franklin, Francis May McGee, Alice Lizzie, Penelope Elizabeth and Eliza. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named William Franklin. She died at the age of 61 on October 12th, 1926 in Eagle Lake,Colorado Co.,Texas.-
