James Edward DeSpain 
James Edward was born on June 9th, 1867 in Green Co.,Kentucky. James Edward's father was William Lewis DeSpain and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Scott. His paternal grandparents were Silas DeSpain and Abigail Edwards. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William Thomas, George Franklin, Alexander, Benjamin Lewis, Mary Susan, Catherine Ann, Lillie Jane and Ida Leann. He is the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
