Matilda de Maurienne was born about 1125 in Chambray, Savoie, France.  Matilda de Maurienne's father was Amadeus III de Maurienne de Savoie and her mother was Matilde d'Albon of Vienne.  Her paternal grandparents were Humbert II the Fat de Maurienne of Savoy and Gisele of Burgundy; her maternal grandparents are Guigues VII d'Albon of Grenoble and Matilde de Apula. She had a brother and a sister, named Humbert III le Saint de Maurienne of and Alix.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died on November 4th, 1157 in Coimbra.
