Alix was born about 1125. Alix's father was Amadeus III de Maurienne de Savoie and her mother was Matilde d'Albon of Vienne. Her paternal grandparents were Humbert II the Fat de Maurienne of Savoy and Gisele of Burgundy; her maternal grandparents are Guigues VII d'Albon of Grenoble and Matilde de Apula. She had a brother and a sister, named Humbert III le Saint de Maurienne of and Matilda de Maurienne. She is the oldest of the three children.-
