Hugh was born about 1275 in Scotland. Hugh's father was William Ross and his mother was Euphemia de Balliol. His paternal grandparents were William de Ross and Jean Comyn; his maternal grandparents were John de Balliol and Devorguilla MacDonald de Galloway. He had a sister named Isabell. He had a half-sister named Joanna. He died in 1333 in Battle of Halidon Hill.General Notes
