Richard was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Richard's father was Richard Woodward and his mother was Jane Petty Nayle. His paternal grandparents were Edward Woodward and Alice Scrope; his maternal grandparents are Henry Nyle and UNKNOWN Deborah. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Robert, William, William, Edward, Joseph, Thomas, Sarah, Jane, Martha and Mary. He died after 1721 in Pennsylvania. Was this Richard Woodward married to Mary Nayle or Deborah Stanfield?
Dates of children should eliminate one of the wives since they were born
within the same time period. Some Quaker historians believe that Mary
Nayle was not married to Richard Woodward born 1 MAR 1670. Did he really
have six wives? Or were Mary Nayle and Mary Brittain same person?
Marriage/children dates often overlap so either there were two Richard
Woodwards at same time in Chester County, Pennsylvania or perhaps he had
mistresses?
Some sources list his death on 17 NOV 1756.
