Her paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Caroline Sarah Harper; her maternal grandparents are Dioclesian Martin and UNKNOWN Catherine. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named Jesse Martin, William B., Marcus Lafayette, Andrew Johnson, Dioclesian Martin, Thomas Stanton, James Hayes, Josephine, Rosilla C., Nancy Alice, Scynthia F. and Minnie G..
