Mamie Catherine was born on October 22nd, 1889 in Mt. Lookout, Nicholas County, West Virginia. Mamie Catherine's father was Christopher Clayton Shaffer and her mother was Dorcas Ann McClung. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Allen Shaffer and Mary Francis McClung. She had six brothers named Eddie, Freddie, Charles A., Chester, Alpheus Chester and Leancy. She was the oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 72 on May 10th, 1962 in Mt. Lookout, Nicholas County, West Virginia.-
