Joan de was born after 1288 in Wigmore, England.  Joan de's father was Roger Mortimer and her mother was Joan de Geneville.  Her paternal grandparents were Edmunde de Mortimer and Margaret de Fiennes; her maternal grandparents were Piers de Geneville and Joan Lusignan. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Edmund, Roger Jr., Geoffrey, John, Maud, Margaret, Catherine, Agnes, Blanch and Beatrice.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died in England.
