Jesse was born on August 3rd, 1883 in Springdale, Washington Co., Utah. Jesse's father was Oliver Demille Gifford and his mother is Emily Ann Hepworth. His paternal grandfather was Samuel Kendall Gifford and his paternal grandmother is Lora Ann Demille. He had a brother and four sisters, named Alpheus, Esther, Minerva, Ethel and Cornelia. He was the oldest of the six children. He had six half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Oliver Demille, William Henry, John Jones, Emerett, Samuel Kendall, Thatcher, Sarah Jane, Mary Emily, Lora Ann, Rosette, Adelia, Sylvia, Margery and Florence. He died at the age of 86 on November 22nd, 1969 in St. George, Washington Co., Utah.-
