Freeborn Barney was born on April 5th, 1889 in Springdale, Washington Co., Utah. Freeborn Barney's father was Freeborn Demille Gifford and his mother is Amelia Jane Hepworth. His paternal grandfather was Samuel Kendall Gifford and his paternal grandmother is Lora Ann Demille. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Samuel Kendall, Frank Ephraim, Harry Squire, Anthony, Benjamin, Lawrence, Annice, Amelia, Arseneth, Penelpa, Anna and Eva. He was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 79 on November 18th, 1968 in St. George, Washington Co., Utah.-
