Mary Ellen was born on September 7th, 1881 in NC. Mary Ellen's father is Commodore Hayes Collins and her mother was Matilda Andrews. Her paternal grandparents are Mahlon Collins and Effie Hays; her maternal grandfather was James Andrews and her maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Crouse. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Mitchell, Martin Kenny, Mahlon Leander, William Hayes, James D., John M., Sarah Louisa and Effie L.. She was the youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 98 on September 27th, 1979.-
