Mahlon Leander was born on November 18th, 1863 in NC. Mahlon Leander's father is Commodore Hayes Collins and his mother was Matilda Andrews. His paternal grandparents are Mahlon Collins and Effie Hays; his maternal grandfather was James Andrews and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Crouse. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Mitchell, Martin Kenny, William Hayes, James D., John M., Sarah Louisa, Effie L. and Mary Ellen. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 74 on May 24th, 1938 in Alleghany Co., NC.-
