Samuel was born on October 17th, 1817 in , , Maury, Tennessee and his baptism took place in Never Married. Samuel's father was Samuel POLK and his mother was Jean Gracy KNOX. His paternal grandparents were Ezekiel Franklin POLK and Mary Winslow WILSON; his maternal grandparents were James KNOX and Lydia GILLESPIE. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named James Knox, Marshall T, John, Franklin Ezekiel, Samuel W, Marshall Tate, John Lee, William Hawkins, Jane Maria, Lydia Eliza, Naomi and Ophelia Clarissa. He was the youngest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 13 on February 24th, 1831 in Columbia, Maury, Tennessee.General Notes
