Philip was born about 1075. Philip's father was Sire de Quesnay Ralph and his mother was Maud de Wateville. His maternal grandfather was William de Wateville. He had four brothers and a sister, named Ralph, William, Roger, Alexander and Sybil. He was the third youngest of the six children.
He had a biological son named Reynold.
