Joana was born in October 1165 in Angers, France.  Joana's father was Henry II Curtmantle Plantagenet and her mother was Duchess of Aquitaine Eläeonore.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V 'the Fair' Plantagenet and Matilda the Empress; her maternal grandparents were Guillaume X and Eläeonore De Chatellerault. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William, Richard I, Geoffrey, John, Henry IV 'The Young', Philip, Matilda and Eleanor. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William, Peter, Duke of LIncoln, Richard of, Duke of Beverly, Rosamond, Matilda of, Marie, Alice and Mary.  She died at the age of 33 on September 4th, 1199.
