Richard I was born on September 8th, 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxfordshire, England. Richard I's father was Henry II Curtmantle Plantagenet and his mother was Duchess of Aquitaine Eläeonore. His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V 'the Fair' Plantagenet and Matilda the Empress; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume X and Eläeonore De Chatellerault.
