John Knowlton 
John was born on June 2nd, 1644 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts. John's father was William Knowlton and his mother was Elizabeth Balch. His paternal grandparents were Capt. William Knowlton and Ann Elizabeth Smith; his maternal grandparents were John Balch and Margaret Lovett. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Nathaniel, William, Benjamin, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Margery and Mary. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
