Richard was born on August 4th, 1222 in Gloucestershire, England.  Richard's father was Gilbert de Clare and his mother was Isabella (Marshall) Mareschal.  His paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare and Amicia FitzRobert; his maternal grandparents were William Mareschal and Isabel FitzGilbert de Clare. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named William, Gilbert, Maud, Joan, Susan, Amica, Isabella, Adeliza and Agnes. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry, Nicholas, John and Isabel.  He died at the age of 39 on July 15th, 1262 in poisoned near Ashenfield Manor, Waltham, Kent, England.  He was buried on July 28th, 1262 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Richard and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony in September 1236 in St. Edmunds, Wexford, Ireland.


Richard's second family with Maud de Lacy

‌Richard and Maud were married in a religious ceremony in Lincolnshire, England.  They had four sons and six daughters, named Lord Gilbert, Thomas, Bevis Benet, Robert, Isabel, Margaret, Rohesia Agnes, Maud, Eglantine and Eleanor.
