Sarah was born about 1697 in Norwalk,Fairfield,CT. Sarah's father was *John Whitney and her mother was *Elizabeth Smith. Her paternal grandparents were *Henry Whitney and *Sarah Soloman; her maternal grandparents were *Richard Smith and *Bathsheba Roberts. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Joseph, Henry, Richard, Nathan, Josiah, *Elizabeth, Anne and Eleanor. She was the second youngest of the ten children. She died in October 1720 in Ridgefield,CT.-
