Her paternal grandparents were *Henry Whitney and *Sarah Soloman; her maternal grandparents were *Richard Smith and *Bathsheba Roberts. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Joseph, Henry, Richard, Nathan, Josiah, *Elizabeth, Anne and Sarah. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.-
