John Harvey was born on July 21st, 1843 in Hancock County,Indiana. John Harvey's father was James McQueary and his mother was Lillian Scott. His paternal grandparents were John McQueary and Nancy Shepherd; his maternal grandparents were Harvey Scott and Kessiah E. Clark. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Cally, William Elsbury, George Washington, Haywood Martin, Marmaduke, Kiziah, Lurany Caroline, Nancy Jane and Phoebe. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Perry, Betsy V., Polly and Sally. He died at the age of 65 on March 20th, 1909 in Modena,Mercer County,Missouri.-
