Arthur was born in 1851 in of Mount Pleasan,Yankalilla,South Australia,Australia. Arthur's father was Henry Kemmis and his mother was Isabella Dagleish. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Kemmis Reverend and Mary Riky. He had four brothers and six sisters, named William, William Henry, John Thomas, Charles Edward, Harriet Alma, Mary, Elizabeth Ruth, Elizabeth Ruth, Edith and Annie Mary. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Henry, George, Arthur, William, Emily, Louisa, Mary Aphrasia, Frances and Laura. He died at the age of 48 in 1899.General Notes
