Mary Ellen Gaines 
Mary Ellen was born in 1816 in South Carolina. Mary Ellen's father was Stephen Gaines and her mother was Martha Patsy Waldrop. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Gaines and Elizabeth Flint; her maternal grandparents were Shadrack Waldrop and Martha Patsy Couch. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Nimrod, James A., Richard, Joseph, George, John Francis Pendleton, Elizabeth F., Rebecca, Everella, Nancy and Martha. She was the sixth youngest of the twelve children. She died after 1860.-
