George Gaines 
George was born in 1822 in Crawford Co.,IL. George's father was Stephen Gaines and his mother was Martha Patsy Waldrop. His paternal grandparents were Richard Gaines and Elizabeth Flint; his maternal grandparents were Shadrack Waldrop and Martha Patsy Couch. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Nimrod, James A., Richard, Joseph, John Francis Pendleton, Elizabeth F., Rebecca, Everella, Mary Ellen, Nancy and Martha. He was the third youngest of the twelve children.-
