Thomas was born on December 25th, 1767 in Mispellin 100,Kent County,Delaware. Thomas' father was Joshua Dewees and his mother was Elizabeth Bowman. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Dewees and Mary Coburn; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Bowman and Sarah Clark. He had two brothers and a sister, named Lewis, Samuel and Anna. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, James, Jethro, Joshua, Elizabeth and Mary. He died at the age of 69 on March 6th, 1837 in Madison Twp,Licking County,Ohio.-
