Sarah Ellen was born on March 29th, 1839 in ,Lewis,MO.1 Sarah Ellen's father was William L. Young and her mother was Eliza Wallace McCampbell. Her paternal grandparents were John Young and Cynthia McCullough. She had six brothers and a sister, named Andrew McCampbell, Samuel Gilmore, John Thomas, Archibald Cameron, James Taylor, William Lawson and Martha Jane. She was the second youngest of the eight children.-
